To engage all in expressing the essence of our community
in Mission together.
Our church community is one for whom Mission is a catalyzing and organizing principle of all we do and are. Mission is not merely a function of our Church. It is a central and organizing purpose.
v Worship is richer because we encourage and engage in mission.
v Fellowship is better because it is inspired by mission.
v Discipleship, teaching and the implementation of our spiritual gifts are all richer as we reach out to others.
For PCAS, Mission is above and beyond social justice or evangelism. The Church and Society Committee is charged with organizing and initiating collaboration among all church ministries to provide a wide range of opportunities for the utilization of all our spiritual gifts in service of others.
Our role as community is to participate together in bringing the Kingdom of God to others. Through our outreach we strive to create living glimpses of what God’s Kingdom is meant to be…
Mission takes place when we serve, when we fight exploitation, discrimination and violence, when we seek inclusion, healing, emancipation, reconciliation. Mission is joining the liberating ministry of Jesus, in real time, in the real world. It is living the Good News of God’s Love, incarnated in our witness for the sake of the world.
Opportunities for Service
The Center in Asbury Park – provides a host of services including housing and meals to individuals and their families suffering with HIV-AIDS. PCAS participates in a ministry which hosts dinners, providing food and fellowship at The Center.
Family Promise – PCAS is a Supporting Congregation for Family Promise of Monmouth County, which serves families that are temporarily homeless. At regular intervals our congregation prepares and serves meals for families staying at a local Hosting Church.
Habitat for Humanity – Beginning late summer/early fall PCAS will be involved with the newest “House That Faith Built”, located in Freehold. There will be many opportunities to help, we look to involve all ages and use many different skills sets. More info to follow.
The Men’s Group, the Women’s Groups, the Youth Fellowships, and several Small Group Ministries all participate in these missions as well as several others of shorter duration. There is plenty to do, find your niche.
